| Hi! My name is CJF Keep A Dancin and I was born on May 18, 1999 on the Nez Perce Reservation in Lapwai, Idaho. My sire is CJF Dream-Maker, out of Dreamfinder, and my dam is Red Hot Dancer, out of Never Short. Just under the age of two, I stand approximately 14 hands now, although I hope that I will continue to grow. I left the only home I knew in Idaho on February 8, 2001 and arrived at my new home, the Lazy Dream Ranch, on February 10, 2001. I heard the lady who hauled me here tell my new owners that I was every inch a lady and held much promise. So to prove her right, I behaved like the lady I heard I was and walked through strange white stuff they called snow, into this huge building, with a large pen inside that I heard them call a work arena. I know that arena means a big place to run and kick up my heels in, but what does "work" mean? I've never had to do that before. In the corner was a smaller pen they called a stall, with this strange colored guy in it who started talking to me. So I walked over to investigate him and decided he wasn't much of a threat. I was more interested in the water and the grain they brought me. For two days I got the big pen and he got the little pen. Suddenly, one day they let the funny colored guy out. He didn't have spots like me, his colors are big all over parts of his body. They called him a paint. I call him a pain! That guy came running at me and tried to climb on top of me and acting all crazy, rearing up and trying to tell me what to do while he was in the big pen. I tried to be nice and move away from him but he kept pestering me, so I let him have it with my best end. After a few times of that noise he quit badgering me and we get along just fine now. He tries to be a hog at meal times, but I've learned to knock his nose out of the dish if I want my share. It's cold here and there is lots of that funny white stuff they call snow on the ground, but the temperatures seem to be getting warmer. My new owner, her name is Aniva, whispers in my ear that we will begin working when the tempratures stay at a steady 20* above zero. If work is more of the stuff she makes me do now, then I'm not entirely sure I like it! She also whispers in my ear about all these places she wants to take me and the things we will do together, but I don't understand it all yet. When I goof up or get spooky, Aniva soothes me with kinds words and gentle pats and tells me it's okay since we're in ground school. I like ground school since I get pampered. It's the work part I'm still not so sure of! I've been told so many things I'm not sure of since my arrival here at my new home. I've spent my life up to now with very little human contact, although I retain my birth imprinting, so being introduced to all kinds of new and strange things is an adventure. Check back often and I'll tell you of my adventures as they happen. ~ CJF Keep A Dancin ~ |
